Question: Medication or no medication?

I was diagnosed 2.5 months ago with what's considered mild Crohn's, after a cancer battle involving a radiated pelvis. Radiation brought what has always been there to the surface. I've been prescribed Pentasa & just about finished. Should I try coping without medication now that I've changed my diet? (No raw veg, seeds, nuts, minimal dairy) or do I continue with these meds forever? Thanks & great site!

Answer

Great question! In general we are not certain whether any particular diet can treat inflammation related to Crohn's disease, though certainly a particular diet can help with symptoms. Commenting on the best treatment for you is challenging without a proper assessment, so it's difficult to provide more details about the most appropriate treatment in this case.
