Question: Stopping Humira when there is another infection in my body

Good Morning :)
My question is, do you recommend stopping the use of Humira if I get an infection in my body ( not related to UC). For instance, if I get a throat infection, sinus infection ( as with the coming of winter, these seem to be more present ). My GI specialist as said that I must stop Humira if I get an infection because my body will have a hard time fighting the infection. This gives me some fear of UC returning if I stopped the H.

Answer

I would certainly take the advice of your treating physician. In general for minor infections we don't stop humira, for major ones we do stop humira. The challenge is deciding how to define a minor or major infection - this decision should be made by your physician
